Read Animal Records

Last updated:

Learn to read animal records, check source notes and distinguish unknown values from verified requirements before planning a build. Updated as records improve.

Start with the source

Open the source and check that it describes the sequel. A record can cite a name without establishing space, temperature or breeding requirements. Treat each care field as a separate question.

Read unknown values correctly

“Coming soon — verifying” means that field has not been checked. It does not mean no water is required, a fence has no restrictions or animals can share an enclosure. Tools preserve unknown values rather than replacing them with defaults.

CheckWhat to record
IdentityExact English name and source
RequirementField, unit and supporting evidence
ReviewVersion and review date
OutcomeVerified value or an unresolved gap

When a value changes, review the tools that depend on it. A source note helps another player understand the result and lets an editor reproduce the check.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a tested zoo build?

This is an editorial planning checklist, not a tested layout or a numerical game requirement.

What should I do when a field is missing?

Keep it unresolved and consult the linked official reference or current game. The tools display a verification message rather than a guessed value.
